Exploring the Topic: Why do I want to be a teacher?

I was the little girl who had a plethora of friends. An ecclectic group where at one point in time in third grade...none of us got along. So...me being the observant person that I was and the orginizational freak...I devided the recess times and made an ENTIRE calender of the entire school year...portraying which girls could play with eachother at different times. I thought this way we would all have time with eachother...and no fights. I was also the girl who was creative at home...always crafting and sewing...trying to find new ways to entertain myself. I was the girl with dolls that made school books, a classroom out of an old cardboard box, bought desks, miniature rulers, and actually came up with monthly lesson plans. Believe me...if my dolls did not finish their assignments on time...detention.

So why do I want to become a teacher? I have always played teacher...dreamed up the perfect classrooms where my friends and I would take turns being the students and the teachers. Of course our "classes" were somewhat make believe and nonsense for example:
1) The history of Unicorns-A science lesson about mythical beasts.
2) Theatre class-Usually writing a fun one act play where we would then later present the final product
3) Dance class-An exercise of poise and balance
4) Disney Princesses-Well...not much to explain there.

However...none of this rambling answers the question of why I want to become a teacher. Well...I will try to explain to my best ability.

I have been blessed with so many role models and heroes in my life. I grew up in a world that education was the basis and goal of your life. I soon came to love learning...I never missed a day of school since third grade...I was always afraid I was going to miss something important and fun. I had teachers that not only made learning fun...but were able to make it interesting to ALL LEVELS of students. My third grade teacher gave me my first inspiration to become a teacher. She told me that I had a way of captivating people at a young age. My next inspiration was in fifth grade by my all time favorite teacher Mr. D. He was sarcastic and witty...always cracking jokes to get everyone to pay attention...let me tell you about his wood burning computer :). Anways, he challenged me and pushed me to never settle. I remeber we used to play around the world in math and a boy beat me. I begged for another round so I could beat him...Mr. D allowed it...and I won. My next inspiration came when I was asked to be a choreographer and Ballet instructor. I learned the importance of instruction, details, and clarity. I learned that I loved being with a group of people...sharing something that I have onced learned myself. Over my highschool career...I was able to talk more with some role model teachers of mine...telling me about their lives...about why they do what they do. So this is why I want to become a teacher...

To share my knowledge with a group of young people. To try and share my passion of learning that may not only help with their studies but with their lives. I want to give back to the community that has helped me excel in places and expand in other qualities that were not stressed in my highschool career. I would like to help more students that have similar troubles with the students I tutored in highschool. Most of all...I would like to ignite curiosity and desire in learning...not being spoon-fed information and always question everything in life. I want to be a continuum of all the great teachers that have taught me and eventually become a good educator myself. I want to be a teacher for so many reasons...but sometimes it is hard to express into words...just like many of the worlds greatest art works...some words just can't explain a true meaning.
