My Reflections
Why do YOU want to become a teacher?
This is the question that was presented to a class of eager, anxious, sharp students as they sat in their first education class. Of course, everyone chooses their profession for different reasons, but what were our reasons. We heard accounts of a person stating they can't stand kids...but wish to teach for different reasons. We heard the stories of family traditions...and wanting to continue in the "family business". We also heard accounts of people who were unsure whether education was the profession they want to pursue...so were trying the class. Nonetheless, why did I want to become a teacher?
Of course my family is also filled with educators...but my relative's professions shouldn't really effect what I want to pursue...or should it? Whether it should or shouldn't...it has. I have seen the joy in them when they get to share their knowledge in a classroom. I get to see their enthusiasm for caring for the education of another. However, I do realize that not all students share the same passions of the teacher...but this presents the challenge for the teacher...and I do love a challenge. I too want to be a passionate teacher and wish to share my knowledge to eager students. I am ready to pursue this profession.
Our first education class was on 1/10/06 and was full of apprehensive students. The class seem so informational and our professor seems amazing. She has so much knowledge and shows passion in her teaching skills. Her enthusiasm and animation make it easy to pay attention and learn the material. Clearly noted, our professor has expressed the importance of confidence..."it will get you through the class and this profession". So I must start singing "I've Got Confidence" from the musical The Sound of Music, because I will be starting my observations on Wednesday, January 18th. I am ready to pursue my dream...a little anxious/excited/nervous...but there are many people who have faith in me and I have faith in myself.
